“But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:5-6, NKJV). This verse closes a psalm that opens with raw complaint, how long, O Lord, will You forget me.
The turn from lament to trust isn’t a denial of the earlier complaint. It’s a decision made in the middle of it, choosing trust even while the original questions may still be unresolved.
Dealt bountifully is a generous description, especially coming right after genuine lament. This isn’t forced positivity, it’s a real choice to remember God’s goodness even mid-struggle.
