“Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things” (Psalm 98:1, NKJV). A new song responds to something specific, marvelous things actually done, not just a vague sense that praise is generally appropriate.
That specificity matters. Praise that’s rooted in actual, named things God has done tends to carry more weight than a general, undirected gratitude.
As this month opens, it’s worth naming something concrete rather than defaulting to a generic thank you. What marvelous thing has God actually done recently that deserves its own new song?
Whatever it is, let it be specific enough to sing about, not just vague enough to nod along with.
