  • Teach Me to Do Your Will | Psalm 143:10

Teach Me to Do Your Will | Psalm 143:10

“Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness” (Psalm 143:10, NKJV). Teach me to do is worth noticing. This isn’t only a request to know God’s will intellectually, but to actually live it out.

Your Spirit is good grounds this request in trust, not in the psalmist’s own capability, but in the goodness of the Spirit doing the teaching and leading.

Land of uprightness is a good image for the destination this prayer aims toward, not perfection achieved instantly, but a direction actually walked in.

What would it look like to pray this same request today, not just to know God’s will, but to actually be taught and led to do it?

  • Cause Me to Hear Your Lovingkindness | Psalm 143:8

Cause Me to Hear Your Lovingkindness | Psalm 143:8

“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk” (Psalm 143:8, NKJV). This prayer asks for two things together: reassurance first, direction second.

That order matters. David doesn’t ask for the path forward before he’s anchored in God’s lovingkindness. The direction comes after the reassurance, not instead of it.

It’s tempting to want the plan before the comfort, especially when a decision feels urgent. This verse suggests seeking the comfort first anyway.

This morning, or whenever you next pray, try this same order: ask to hear His lovingkindness first, and let the direction follow from that place of trust.
