Cause Me to Hear Your Lovingkindness | Psalm 143:8

“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk” (Psalm 143:8, NKJV). This prayer asks for two things together: reassurance first, direction second.

That order matters. David doesn’t ask for the path forward before he’s anchored in God’s lovingkindness. The direction comes after the reassurance, not instead of it.

It’s tempting to want the plan before the comfort, especially when a decision feels urgent. This verse suggests seeking the comfort first anyway.

This morning, or whenever you next pray, try this same order: ask to hear His lovingkindness first, and let the direction follow from that place of trust.
