“Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins” (Proverbs 10:12, NKJV). This verse names two very different responses to offense, hatred that escalates strife, and love that actually covers wrongdoing rather than dwelling on it.
Covers doesn’t mean ignoring genuine harm or refusing to address real problems. It means love that doesn’t nurse every grievance into an ongoing conflict.
This is worth checking against your own recent conflicts. Has your response tended to stir up more strife, or has it actually covered and released the offense?
Is there a lingering strife in your own relationships that this verse invites you to cover with love, rather than continuing to stir?
