“One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life” (Psalm 27:4, NKJV). Most of us carry a long list of desires. David narrows his down to one central thing.
That kind of focus is rare. It doesn’t mean David had no other needs or wants. It means one desire, nearness to God, sat clearly above all the others.
This is worth using as a filter for your own scattered list of desires. If you had to narrow yours down to one thing, what would actually rise to the top?
Dwelling in God’s house, all the days of my life, isn’t a temporary fix for a hard season. It’s a lifelong desire, worth returning to again and again.
