“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7, NKJV). Three active verbs in a row here, ask, seek, knock, each one requiring something more than passive waiting.
This isn’t a formula guaranteeing whatever we want on demand. It’s an invitation to genuine, persistent pursuit, rather than a quiet hope that things will work out without our engagement.
Knocking, in particular, implies persistence. A single knock is easy to give up on. This verse pictures continued knocking, not a one-time attempt abandoned quickly.
