“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV). This short verse makes a direct claim: what actually fills someone’s thoughts shapes who they actually are, more than their outward presentation does.
That’s worth sitting with. Outward behavior can be managed and performed for a while. What’s actually happening in the heart, in unguarded thought, tends to reveal the real person eventually.
This isn’t about policing every stray thought with anxiety. It’s about noticing patterns, what you return to again and again in your thinking, since that pattern shapes who you’re actually becoming.
What has been occupying your heart’s thoughts most consistently lately, and is that the person you actually want to become?
