“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?” (Psalm 8:4, NKJV). This question comes right after David considers the vastness of the heavens, the moon and stars set in place by God’s own fingers.
Against that scale, human beings seem impossibly small. And yet the question isn’t rhetorical dismissal, it’s genuine wonder that a God this vast would still be mindful of something this small.
That mindfulness isn’t distant or theoretical. The word used here suggests actual visitation, God drawing near, not simply observing from a distance.
As this new month opens, let this question settle in rather than rushing past it: why would a God this vast still be mindful of you specifically, today?
