“A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance” (Ecclesiastes 3:4, NKJV). This verse doesn’t rank these seasons against each other. Weeping isn’t treated as a lesser, less faithful state than laughing.
That’s a needed corrective for anyone who feels pressure to perform constant positivity, as though grief were somehow a failure of faith.
Both seasons have their proper time. Neither one is meant to last forever, and neither one is out of place when it’s actually the season you’re in.
Which season are you actually in right now, and are you allowing yourself to be fully in it, rather than rushing toward the other one?
