Good Measure, Pressed Down | Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom” (Luke 6:38, NKJV). This verse describes generosity’s return in vivid, almost excessive terms, pressed down, shaken together, running over.

This isn’t a formula guaranteeing a specific financial return for every gift. It’s a picture of the generous, abundant character of God’s response to a generous heart.

The image itself is worth sitting with, not a stingy trickle back, but overflow, more than what was originally given.

Where has hesitation about giving been rooted in a fear of scarcity, when this verse pictures a God who responds with genuine overflow?
