“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8, NKJV). This verse describes a genuine exchange, our approach met by God’s own approach in return.
It’s worth noticing the order. We’re not called to wait passively for God to draw near first. The invitation is to initiate, to actually draw near ourselves.
This doesn’t mean God is otherwise distant or withholding. It means there’s a real responsiveness built into this relationship, our movement toward Him met by His movement toward us.
What would it look like to actually draw near today, rather than waiting for God to close the distance first?
