“And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:17, NKJV). Consist here means hold together, cohere. Without Christ, this verse suggests, creation itself would come apart.
That’s a bigger claim than Christ simply having created things and stepped back. He’s actively holding everything together, right now, not just at the beginning.
This is worth remembering when your own life feels like it’s coming apart at the seams. The same Christ holding the universe together is present in your own unraveling moments too.
What in your own life currently feels like it’s falling apart, that this verse invites you to trust Christ is actually holding together, even when it doesn’t feel that way?
