“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1, NKJV). Every other verse in Scripture rests on this one. Before anything else is said about God, this is where the story begins: He creates.
This isn’t a complicated theological argument. It’s a simple, foundational claim, one that the rest of the Bible builds on without needing to defend it further.
As a new month opens, it’s worth returning to this foundation. Whatever else feels uncertain, this verse anchors the story in a Creator who spoke the heavens and earth into being.
What would it look like to start this month remembering that the same God who created the heavens and earth is present in the ordinary details of your own days?
