“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). Jesus says this to disciples who genuinely meant well but fell asleep instead of praying with Him.
That gap between willing spirit and weak flesh is a familiar one. Good intentions alone don’t guarantee follow-through, especially under pressure or exhaustion.
Watch and pray is the remedy offered here, not willpower alone, but active vigilance paired with dependence on God.
Where has a willing spirit of yours recently been undone by weak flesh, and what would watching and praying have looked like in that moment?
