“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly” (Proverbs 14:29, NKJV). This verse links two things we might not naturally connect: patience with anger, and depth of understanding.
Impulsive reactions often feel justified in the moment, but this verse names them plainly as folly, regardless of how reasonable they felt at the time.
Slow to wrath doesn’t mean never angered. It means taking the time to actually understand a situation before reacting to it.
In your next moment of rising anger, what would it look like to let understanding slow you down before the wrath takes over?
