Full of Compassion | Psalm 86:15

“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth” (Psalm 86:15, NKJV). This verse stacks up description after description of God’s character, each one worth pausing on rather than rushing past.

Full of compassion. Gracious. Longsuffering, meaning patient over the long haul, not quick to give up. Abundant in mercy and truth, not stingy with either one.

It’s worth asking honestly whether this description matches the picture of God you’re actually carrying day to day, or whether a harsher, more impatient version has quietly crept in.

If your picture of God has drifted toward strict and impatient, this verse is a good one to return to and let reshape that picture back toward what’s actually true.
