“So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12, NKJV). This is a prayer about time, but not in the productivity-hack sense. It’s asking God to help us actually feel the weight of how limited our days are.
Most of us live as though we have an endless supply of time, until something interrupts that illusion, a health scare, a loss, a milestone birthday. This verse asks for that awareness on purpose, before the interruption forces it.
Numbering our days isn’t about anxiety over mortality. It’s about clarity. When you know your time is limited, you tend to spend it differently.
As this year unfolds, this is a good verse to return to whenever the days start to blur together. Ask for the heart of wisdom that actually notices them.
