“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8, NKJV). This verse cuts through elaborate religious performance to name what’s actually required, plainly.
Three things are named, justice, mercy, and humility, not as separate categories to choose between, but as a single, integrated way of life.
Each one is demanding in its own way. Justice requires courage. Mercy requires generosity. Humility requires setting aside self-importance, especially before God.
Which of these three, doing justly, loving mercy, or walking humbly, needs the most attention in your own life right now?
