“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV)
This verse gets quoted a lot, sometimes as a promise that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. But read in context, it’s something quieter and sturdier than that. Paul wrote these words from a place of hardship, learning to be content whether he had plenty or little.
The strength here isn’t self-generated. It’s borrowed. It comes from staying close to Christ through seasons of both abundance and lack, not from gritting your teeth and pushing harder.
