“Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths” (Psalm 25:4, NKJV). This is a short prayer, but it carries real humility. David isn’t asking God to bless the path he’s already chosen. He’s asking to be shown the path in the first place.
That’s a different posture than most of us default to. It’s easier to make a plan and ask God to confirm it than to genuinely ask to be taught, open to a direction we haven’t already decided on.
Teach me Your paths assumes there’s something to learn, that David doesn’t already have it figured out, and that God’s ways might differ from his own instincts.
This is a good prayer to borrow today, especially for any decision where you’ve already half-decided the answer before asking.
