“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4, NKJV). This verse gets quoted often as a promise that God will hand over whatever we happen to want. Read in context, it’s saying something deeper.
Delighting in God isn’t a transaction to unlock a wish list. It’s a relationship that, over time, reshapes what we actually want in the first place.
When your delight is genuinely in Him, your desires start to shift, away from things that never satisfied anyway, and toward what actually matters.
This isn’t a quick fix. It’s a slow reordering. But it’s worth pursuing: not desires handed over on demand, but desires transformed by nearness to God.
